Let’s get started on your Mallorca bucket list with a video highlighting some of the top attractions!

The Ultimate Mallorca Bucket List: 37 Vacation Ideas

Bucket List Adventures

This component of your bucket list focuses solely on the experiences you must have on the island, not the attractions you must see.

1. Take a road trip

Mallorca offers some fantastic routes that will take you past beautiful coastline views, dramatic mountains, and the most lovely little villages! It also has some extremely hazardous roads, like as the Ma-10, but don’t let that put you off since a road trip across Mallorca is something you must do!

PRO TIP:  If you want to visit Mallorca in February, a road trip is ideal since you can see everything while remaining safe in your car if it rains!

2. Watch The Sunset

Mallorca has some of the most beautiful sunsets in Spain—even more amazing than the ones we saw in Madrid over our four days there! It’s tough to beat the sky becoming vibrant orange, pink, and yellow over the turquoise-blue Mediterranean! Another must-do for couples is to steal a kiss at sunset!

  • Sunset Viewing Locations

  • Mirador Es Pontas is our top pick.

  • The Port of Andratx is a hidden treasure.

The overrated: Sa Foradada (great but much too crowded!)

3. Operate The Ma-10

Only if you are a confident driver should you include this in your Mallorca bucket list. We also recommend against driving this during the colder months, such as January. The Ma-10 is both the most dangerous and one of the most appealing roads on the island.

This is especially true if you head to Sa Calobra and travel the “snake road.” The road is narrow, without barriers, full of hairpin turns, and travels along the cliff’s edge, offering amazing sea and mountain views.

4. Swim In The Mediterranean On A Catamaran

We couldn’t believe how blue the water was in Mallorca, and it’s much more noticeable when you’re in the middle of it! The best way to achieve this is to take a catamaran cruise that stops in the middle and allows you to float or swim! Swimming in the Mediterranean Sea is an unforgettable experience that everyone should enjoy! The best aspect is that you don’t need to stay somewhere with a car to get this experience; you may go straight from Palma Centre!

Just be sure to organize your trip appropriately! If you plan your vacation too early, say in May, the water may be too rough.

5. Check out Natural Rock Formations.

Mallorca’s south and southeast sides have the most stunning rock formations, similar to those seen in Portugal’s Algarve region! Es Pontas, near Santanyi, is our favorite, as well as one of the best sunset viewing spots and locations to visit in Mallorca.

6. Take a Ride on an Antique Train

You may take a lovely 1912 wooden antique train to Port Soller in Palma’s center (across from Plaza Espana). It travels around gorgeous roads, mountains, and orchards!

7. Pay A Visit To A Working Orchard

Mallorca is surrounded by citrus fruit groves, but Soller is one of the best-known, especially for oranges. You can walk 15 minutes from Soller’s center to Ecovinyassa, a growing citrus plantation. Make a reservation, since it is important!

8. Hike The mountain range of Serra Tramuntana

Mallorca is more than just beaches and sea; it also has the UNESCO World Heritage Site Serra Tramuntana Mountains! These beautiful, rolling slopes are home to delightful settlements, which you may explore and even stay in guest houses along the way!

If you prefer hiking, we recommend the GR-221 Dry Stone Route, a 100-kilometer trail that can be completed in 4-8 days, depending on your speed. Visit Mallorca in March for the best weather!

9. Drive to the Lighthouse at Cap de Formentor

The Cap de Formentor is Mallorca’s northernmost point, with a single road leading to a lighthouse. If you time it right, you’ll get spectacular mountain and coastal views, as well as a breathtaking sunset!

10. Stay on a finca

You two must escape Palma’s frenetic “scene” and spend some time in a peaceful and ultra-romantic “Finca.” A finca is a lovely stone farmhouse that farmers rent out to tourists while continuing to live on the land.

They usually serve wonderful breakfasts and offer peaceful and gorgeous surroundings where you may unwind after a long day of traveling across Mallorca!

11. Enrol in a Paella Making Class

This was one of our favorite aspects of the whole trip! Caleb and I enjoy cooking together, so it was great to meet a local from Banyalbufar and visit her father’s one-bedroom home to create paella on her wonderful grounds. The wine is flowing, the conversation is vibrant, and the paella is the best we’ve ever tried!

Mallorca Food Bucket List

Now it’s time to talk about all of the traditional Mallorcan delicacies that must be consumed to achieve an amazing bucket list! We recommend this culinary journey to simply fulfill them all, plus more!

12. Pa Amb Oli

This is commonly referred to as Pamboli, however it just means “bread with oil.” Don’t be deceived by its simplicity; it’s pretty tasty! It begins with pan de cristál, a Mallorcan bread similar to focaccia.

The bread is toasted to perfection, then a half tomato is rubbed on top, followed by a liberal drizzle of olive oil and sea salt. We’ve gotten so many people in the United States obsessed with it.

13. Sobrasada

On that note, sobrasada is another must-have dish for hungry guests. It’s a raw cured sausage that resembles spreadable chorizo. It’s life-giving when paired with a crunchy, fatty spread and topped with cheese.

Yeah. Please bring some flexible trousers to Mallorca. You heard it first here.

14. Ensamada

This is their specialty dessert. It’s a simplistic spiral-shaped pastry made using hog fat. It does not taste like pork, but it is light, fluffy, and wonderful! The basic version is sprinkled with powdered sugar, but it may also be filled with vanilla pudding or pumpkin jam!

15. Tumblr

This terracotta-baked vegetable dish may be served warm or at room temperature. It resembles the Mallorcan version of Ratatouille.

16. Coca De Trampo

This is what I call Mallorcan pizza, and we just enjoy it! The coca is a basic flatbread with a variety of toppings. The most popular topping is “trampo,” which is a combination of tomato, onion, and green pepper with plenty of olive oil!

17. Orange Juice, freshly squeezed

You’re on an island known for its citrus, so get some freshly squeezed citrus juice in your life! This is offered at almost every café, and it is bright and lovely everywhere!

Locations to Visit on Your Bucket List

This portion of our bucket list is dedicated to specific places that you must see, ranging from highland cities to picturesque beach towns.

19. Drach Caves

The Drach Caves are a cave system that includes four massive caves and one of the world’s largest underground lakes. While this is a tourist attraction, it is nevertheless a beautiful site to view, especially if you attend one of the classical music concerts hosted here!

Schedule a personalized tour here!

20. Cala Figuera

This charming beach village with white-painted homes dates back to the fourteenth century. It’s a great place to wander the streets since it has a different vibe than the little mountain towns and offers a welcome change of scenery.

21. Deia

Deiá, a charming hilltop village in the Serra Tramuntana, is our favorite place in Mallorca. Deiá is well-known among prominent artists and authors, therefore there are plenty of art galleries and companies to explore. There’s also El Olivio, a restaurant with one of the most beautiful settings we’ve ever seen.

21. Valdemossa

If you’ve been studying your Mallorcan vacation for more than 2 seconds, you’ve heard about Valldemossa. This wonderful community is also located in the Serra de Tramuntana and is surrounded by beautiful hills! The Royal Carthusian Monastery and Jardins Rei Joan Carles are two of the area’s top attractions.

23. Fornalutx

Another beautiful town, but they never get old, and because this is a bucket list piece, we have to create the most epic one! Fornalutx is touted as the “prettiest village in Spain,” and it’s a delightful place to spend an hour or two roaming about.

24. Banyalbufar

Most people visit Valldemossa, Deiá, and Sóller, but you want to tick things off your bucket list, right? So you aren’t going to do that.

It’s another great small West Coast hamlet with only 500 residents. The ancient terraced slopes that drop into the sea are the main attraction here.

25. Alcudia

This hamlet in the island’s north is a unique blend of historic architecture and a modern beach resort. Alcudia’s true distinguishing feature is its medieval walled enclosure! It’s an excellent place to explore the small streets lined with Roman ruins, museums, and delicious restaurants, or to spend another beach day crossing something off your bucket list!

26. Santanyi

We adore you, sleepy little Santanyi! This charming little village near Es Pontás has a bohemian and peaceful atmosphere. Unless you visit on a Saturday or Wednesday, there is little to do here but walk about the town.

Beaches

Now let’s talk about the most beautiful beaches in Mallorca that you should add to your bucket list! To be honest, they are all amazing. But, here are some of the best:

27. Es Trenc

Es Trenc is one of the island’s most famous beaches, with the Caribbean blue sea and beautiful white sand extending for nearly 2 km on the island’s south side. If you’re a beach-going couple, you should mark this one off your list straight away!

28. Cala Deia

Since you’re already going to Deia on this bucket list Mallorca, why not take a dip in Cala Deia? Cala Deia is a little cove beach that is just 70 meters long and contains a lot of rocks.

29. Cala Llombards

Cala Llombards, like many of the beaches listed here, is a cove beach. It is situated in the southeast part of the island, near Santanyi. It’s just around 55 meters long, yet it spans a considerable distance and is surrounded by a beautiful combination of cliffs, rocks, and even pine trees!

This is an excellent site for snorkeling!

30. Cala Pi

The irony is that Cala Pi was the earliest documented village on the island, yet it is also one of the most undisturbed areas to visit! It’s a tranquil, natural harbour on the south coast, tucked between two rocky cliffs adorned with pine trees. Pretty!

31. Calo Des Moro

Calo Des Moro is one of Mallorca’s most beautiful beaches, nestled in a little bay with a breathtakingly blue sea. Because it is small and touristy, it may become quite busy, so prepare ahead! You will be happier if you arrive early!

Take the steps from Carrer des Caló des Moro Street to Cala S’Almunia (seen below), then continue to Caló des Moro.

32Cala Santanyi

Even though it is not a famous tourist location, we enjoyed this beach the most. When we came in October, it was very tranquil, and it looked like local Spanish were vacationing there, rather than a swarm of tourists (you know, the ones that pronounce “Majorca” instead of “Mallorca”). This may not be true during the busy summer months!

Historical Attractions on Your Bucket List

Finally, your bucket list should contain historical attractions on the island that you must see before you go!

33. Santa Maria de Palma Cathedral

The majestic Gothic Roman Catholic Cathedral in the center of the old town is impossible to miss. It’s one of Europe’s tallest churches, so you know it’s massive! It also has the world’s largest Gothic rose window, which you must see!

34. La Almudaina Royal Palace

Because the palace is just adjacent to the Cathedral, you can mark off two items on your bucket list at once. This 14th-century house is where the Spanish monarch and queen stay when they visit Mallorca.

35. Bellver Castle

The caste was built in Gothic style in the 14th century to house rulers. It’s on the outskirts of Palma, so you’ll have to drive there and back because it’s pretty hilly! That information alone may assist you decide whether you need a car in Mallorca! You may also take the hop-on/hop-off bus to that location.

36. Arab Banos

Explore the remnants of the Arab baths from the period Mallorca was under Moorish rule in the city center. They’re also surrounded by beautiful gardens!

PRO TIP: It’s only cash (and a few bucks!) So, have a plan before you travel.

37. Son Marroig

Archduke Ludwig Salvator formerly lived in this traditional Austrian country residence, which has been converted into a museum. It is now a museum devoted to the Archduke and may be visited for its amazing views!
