15 Things to Do in Mallorca With Your Partner (Aside from the Beach!)

Sunbathing on the beach is nice, and you don’t need the internet to convince you of that. You are intelligent and recognize that island + Mediterranean Sea = beach time! And, if you’re like Caleb and me, you want to combine the normal “touristy” activities of the places you visit with additional “hidden gems” so you can immerse yourself in the local culture!

We spent some time visiting the Balearic island of Mallorca and discovered several unique things that we enjoyed doing together on our 7-day schedule, which we’re sharing in this post so you can have a romantic holiday together while making the most of your time on the island!

15 Things To Do In Mallorca With Your Partner

On The Paseo Maritimo, Eat Gelato

What better way to beat the heat than by sharing some gelato? The Paseo Maritimo is the promenade that is around Palma harbor, and it’s a beautiful walk to go with your family! The Gelato Boutique Paseo Martimo is our favorite gelato shop in the area, and we’ve tried several! Grab a cone or a cup (pistachio is the best) and cruise around the Mediterranean Sea with your lover! You could share your gelato for additional romance, but pro tip: it’s so delicious you’ll want it all to yourself!

Palma: Eat Your Way Through

This is for food-loving couples like ourselves! We were shocked to learn that Mallorca has a different culinary scene from the rest of Spain! They manufacture Ensenada pastry, as well as their version of ‘pizza’ and the most spreadable sausage. It may be impossible to try everything during your holiday, so join our culinary tour for a fun and delicious way to spend an afternoon together! You will learn about the island’s cuisine and culture, as well as see some of its most famous monuments, including the royal palace!

Ride In A Hot Air Balloon

Are you ready to feel like you’re on a Bachelor date, but with a better possibility of making it work as a couple? A romantic morning balloon tour should be on your Mallorca bucket list! What could be more beautiful than soaring over the magnificent blue and translucent Mediterranean Sea, with the Serra Traumuntana Mountains in the background? You may also add breakfast for a few bucks, which we recommend because breakfast in Palma is rather pricey!

Remember that these are usually group outings, so you’ll be sharing space with others! But it’s still a great thing to do as a couple. Look into this ride if you want a private journey! According to the reports, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime event with champagne and chocolate strawberries – OH LA LA!

At Sunset, Steal A Kiss

Everyone and their dog will tell you to visit Sa Foradada for the sunset, but we disagree. While we won’t discourage you from going to Sa Foradada for sunset because it’s beautiful, it’s also rather popular and crowded, making it neither romantic nor enjoyable. It’s well-known, so go visit it, but then travel to Port D’Andratx or Es Pontas in Santanyi to see the sunset.

These are hidden gems that are significantly less crowded and as beautiful! I mean, kissing during a Mediterranean sunset? It does not get more romantic than this, people!

Dinner on the Beach Can Be Romantic

A romantic supper on some of Spain’s best beaches would be a must-do on any list of activities for couples! While you can’t eat right on the beach, there are plenty of excellent restaurants with sea views, such as Restaurant Urbà in Palma, which serves anybody over the age of 16 (yay!) and we recommend trying the “surprise” menu if you’re feeling bold!

Another excellent possibility is Latitud 39 in Port d’Andratx, where you may have a romantic dinner and steal a kiss at sunset!

Spend Your Day On A Catamaran

Instead of relaxing on the beach, why not spend some time on the water together? We enjoyed our Catamaran tour, which took us around some of the island’s less-visited areas and allowed us to swim in the Mediterranean Sea! They typically provide beer, wine, beverages, and small snacks, and it’s an excellent way to spend the day with your significant other. This adventure travels directly from Palma, so there is no need for a car!

Visit a Winery and Try Some Wine

Did you know that Mallorca produces some wonderful wines? Most certainly not, as many Mallorcan wines are not exported, giving you the option to try something new! We recommend that you plan an organized trip so that you may sample the wine and have some snacks without worrying about driving inebriated! Purchase some wine since Spanish wine is an excellent souvenir from Spain!

Can you imagine sipping wine while staring out across orchards and vineyards in the Alps, especially in a beautiful spring month like May? *SWOON

A Road Trip Through the Romantic Villages

We loved seeing all of the wonderful towns on the island, including Valdemossa, Fornalutx, and Deia! While you could use public transit to view them, it is faster and more enjoyable to do so on a road trip, which is why we recommend renting a car in Mallorca.

Check out our guide on driving and renting a vehicle in Mallorca, then book a car, listen to our couple’s road trip music, answer our road trip questions, and ready to get lost in the most beautiful and romantic streets you’ve ever seen. This is not an exaggeration!

People drink wine on the Passeig de Born.

Don’t lie, you know that people-watching at European cafés is one of the best things to do. The Passeig de Born is one of Palma’s most charming avenues, with numerous excellent terraces where you may have a glass of wine while people-watching. Alternatively, come in December to enjoy MULLED wine and people-watching!

We can neither confirm nor deny that making up the backstories of the characters you encounter enhances the experience.

On The Soller Train, Share Coca De Trampo

While these activities may be completed alone, they are significantly more memorable when done in groups. We got our Coca de Trampo at Forn Des Port in Soller, which is about a minute’s walk from the train station. This bakery is located within a convenience store (I know. Believe me, it’s great!) and easy to ignore! Grab a portion to divide, board the vintage train, and eat delicious food while you pass by citrus groves. This was a unique experience that we strongly recommend!

Visit Santa Catalina for a Coffee Date

Santa Catalina is Palma’s most popular neighborhood right now, with an abundance of fantastic restaurants, taverns, and cafés. It’s an excellent spot to begin your day with a strong cup of espresso! If Instagram is your thing, we recommend Mama Carmen, which also serves some very Instagrammable breakfast options! Visit Mallorca in the spring, such as March, to enjoy the neighborhood without the tourists!

In The Arabian Gardens, Have A Sweet Snack

The Jardins de Alfabia are a popular tourist attraction, and for good reason: they are gorgeous and one of the best places to explore by car! What most travel websites don’t mention is that it has a little café inside! It’s the perfect place to have the freshest squeezed orange juice you’ve ever had or a nice small cake while feeling as if you’re dining in a jungle with just you two. Oh-la-la!

Hike through the Serra Tramuntana Mountains.

Mallorca offers wonderful trekking for the adventurous couple, especially if you visit in cooler months like February (if you don’t mind some rain) or April! There are various short treks through the mountain settlements that may be accomplished in one day, or you can take the Grand Route 221! The principal hiking path on the island is 100 km long and takes 4 to 8 days to complete. If you decide to travel, you can stay in guest homes in the communities you visit!

This mountain range is a UNESCO World Heritage Site!

Enjoy a “Hora De Vermut” at La Rosa.

La Rosa, located next to Plaza Weyler, is regarded as one of Palma’s best vermuterias by both locals and tourists. This small tavern fills rapidly and is quite boisterous and lively! The vermouth is classic and good, and so is the tapas menu. Oh my gosh, I’m still dreaming about the mussels in tomato sauce.

In Spain, the hour before lunch is known as “La Hora de Vermut” since that’s when Spaniards drink vermouth. Act like a local and head out for a drink!

Gather local ingredients and prepare a meal together

Many markets in Palma, Mallorca’s capital city, provide beautifully fresh food that you can take back to your Airbnb and create a romantic dinner together over a glass bottle of fantastic Spanish wine! For a more realistic experience, go to Mercat de l’Olivar near Placa Espana. The market at Santa Catalina is likewise good, though we thought it to be less authentic.

Is Mallorca a Good Destination for Couples?

We can safely say that Mallorca is a wonderful choice for couples’ vacations! Caleb and I have been across Spain and Europe, and this island is one of the most beautiful places we’ve ever seen. Mallorca is worth a visit! We feel it is better for couples rather than families with children, which is perfect for us!

One thing is certain: whether you call it Mallorca or Majorca, there are some amazing and romantic things to do in Mallorca for couples! With the mountains, the blue-blue-blue sea, and jaw-dropping sunsets as backdrops, there are many opportunities for romance, adventure, and leisure on this gorgeous, sun-soaked island!
